Angel Ruelas is the lead artist and creator of RAIDERS LEGACY 51. He has been creating Raiders artwork for the past 28 years from THE REAL BLACK HOLE. His goal as an artist is to share his Raiders creativity with the RAIDERS UNIVERSE. He hopes to inspire other artists to create something positive through the Covid-19 crisis. With the Covid-19 taking over the world, Angel said, “I thought right now would be the perfect time to get something positive going for all the Raider fans who need some inspiration and motivation.” I know what if feels to be isolated and locked down from the entire world. The creation of Raiders Legacy 51 was created when Covid-19 canceled the flag football season. As the head coach of the PVSP Raiders, I quickly found myself coaching off the field and trying to keep the Raider Nation together behind the walls. All the players including myself used the game of football as a learning tool to help us out with our RILLABILITATION. With the season quickly over, all we had left was each other for support. As an artist in prison, creating artwork has always been a positive tool for me when it came to being isolated or dealing with some mental health issues. So being we could no longer play flag football anymore, I spoke with my players and said, “JUST CREATE BABY!” I hope through my artwork and BLOG from “THE REAL BLACK HOLE,” my personal story of creating Raiders Legacy 51 can inspire you to create your own legacy.
